Helping the Homeless by Helping Their Pets

It promises to be a wet winter and that means rough going if you are a pet living on the streets. “Keep Woofy Warm” is a small charity created by Kelly Tomke that asks for donations of new or gently-used warm doggie-wear that will be distributed to those who live on the street that have dogs that need to stay warm and dry. She says there are several reasons why people might have unused dog sweaters they could contribute:

  1. Your dog refuses to wear them.
  2. Your dog has outgrown them.
  3. Your dog is no longer with us.
  4. You have extra items that your pet would love to share.

If you would like to help “Keep Woofy Warm” you can drop items off at Tomke’s grooming salon in downtown San Diego’s East Village. The “Salty Dawg Pet Grooming Salon” is located at 1460 Island Avenue but please call first for their hours of operation. The phone number is (619) 237-0557. Any unused pet-related items are also accepted such as collars, harnesses, leashes, food and toys.

No one wants to see dogs that are cold or hungry. Your generosity is always greatly appreciated. Thank you.
