We love animals. We also love the people who care so much about them. Pets return that love, give us companionship and more entertainment than all the premium channels on cable combined! For all they give us, we should return that same devotion to them. That’s what we hope this magazine will do—encourage people to take an active interest in the animals in our community. Whether it’s by keeping your own pets happy and healthy, or by committing to help homeless animals in San Diego—we hope you’ll find the information and stories on this website helpful.
Currently, there are 45,000 homeless animals that enter San Diego shelters each year. That’s more than just a number to us… it represents the lives that the San Diego Animal Welfare Coalition is pledging to save. But we can’t do it alone. Animal welfare is a community issue, and we all need to do our part to make sure our pets are safe.
We hope you enjoy the new San Diego Pets Magazine. We’re so excited because this is the only magazine of its kind in San Diego. This community pet resource wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated partner, San Diego Magazine—the enviable source of all that’s new and exciting in San Diego. San Diego is one of the most bio-diverse places on earth, and our animals are a big reason for that. Pets are one of the most defining features of our community, so our partnership with San Diego Magazine makes perfect sense. With their talented and compassionate staff, they have made a commitment to the animals and the people who love them in our community.
So read on. This magazine represents more than the heartwarming stories and helpful pet resources that fill its pages… it’s a tool to bring us all together for the greater good of the animals. Together, we can make San Diego the best place in the world to have an animal… or to be one.
