The facility, which opened in May of 2009, will continue to operate during its normal business hours, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends—but an emergency staff is now available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A facility spokesperson said this eliminates the need for travel to another emergency facility to see veterinarians unfamiliar with a pet’s medical history.
The hospital is now also equipped to provide a complete cycle of pet care, as opposed to traditional discharges that involve the transfer of stabilized patients to their regular care facilities.
Veterinary Economics magazine’s hospital design competition board named Mission its Hospital of the Year in 2011.
