Lucca, a Marine dog who lost a leg from a bomb explosion in Afghanistan, was honored in London with the Dickin Medal, Britain’s highest award for valor by a military animal. She is the first U.S. military dog to receive the medal. The German shepherd and Belgian Malinois mix led more than 400 patrols in Afghanistan and Iraq. She is now back at Camp Pendleton with her handler, Sgt. Chris Willingham. We salute you, Lucca!
