Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon is a fun event at Del Mar Dog Beach that raises funds for orphaned animals at Helen Woodward Animal Center! There are many ways to help raise money and participate in our event:
Surf Dog Competition:
Owners and their pets will participate in 20 minute heats based on the dogs weight class. They will be judged on their ability to ride the waves, having fun and staying on their boards! There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for each weight class. All the first place winners from each weight class will move on to the finals. There will be Grand Prizes awarded to our top three finalists at the end of the day.:
May the best Surf Dog win!
DOO THE DAH:
Doo the Dah for Dogs is our human surfing costume contest! Surfers decide whether they want to surf on their own or in a team. You can even ride tandem with your furry friend! Participants must pledge to catch a set number of waves within a 30 minute time frame and solicit friends and neighbors for financial support on behalf of their efforts.
Judges will be on the lookout for the best themed team or individual!
Other fun animal-friendly activities include:
Beach Bum Bikini Babe Canine Costume Contest
Dog Agility course - Thanks to San Diego Pet Training
Interactive Vendor Booths from the surf and pet industries.
Helen Woodward Animal Center will be on sight with adoptable dogs and trained professionals to answer all animal related questions!
Local and national media will be involved in the promotion and coverage of this event, with expected attendance in the thousands!
Don't miss out on a great day at the beach with your furry friend!
