Dear Tabby

The holidays are right around the corner and I’m planning to go all out. What can I do to keep my pets safe (and my decorations nice)?

Beware of common holiday hazards. Some cats and dogs see dangling ornaments and tinsel as toys. Keep these and pet-unfriendly plants like mistletoe and holly out of reach, and tape down lighting cords so pets won’t be tempted to chew. Be careful under the tree, too. Gifts containing food items will likely be discovered. And finally, if you’re planning a party, make sure your pets have a quiet place to chill out. This will also corral escape artists.
