My dog and I spend a lot of time outdoors in the summer. Are there any dog-unfriendly plants we should watch out for?
The ASPCA has a full list of plants that are harmful to dogs (and cats and horses), but one of the most common to look out for in San Diego are foxtails, which can get stuck in your dog’s nose, throat, ears, or even paws. Poison oak is pretty common around the county, too. Even backyard outings can pose some risk. Azaleas, birds of paradise and sago palms are popular landscaping choices, but they’re also toxic.
